The Lent Bumps - Wednesday 2009

2nd Women's Lent VIII - Rowed Over

This race couldn't be described better than as a real bumps race! Although no one was on our tail, we were chasing Selwyn II who were closely chasing Newnhnam II. We gained quickly on Selwyn with more controlled and determined rowing than on day I, but unfortunately a series of events prevented us from bumping! Selwyn was gaining on Newnham slightly, and only slightly, faster than we were gaining on them and eventually they bumped them. The Patroness also let us down since Antonia's footplate came off at grassy corner and I fell off my seat. An eventful row if nothing else!

But we pulled it together, made it around grassy and rowed as a crew stronger and technically better than ever before across the finish line. It's something to be proud of and we will have a chance to properly catch Selwyn on Saturday! Lisa x

1st Women's Lent VIII - Bumped LMBC!

Fantastic result!

Not as stressed as we expected but definitely not as neat as we have been recently. Strong, solid, committed. We knew what we had to do and we did it together!

Claire and Grace - first bump - woop!! Jonathan - amazing coxing!

Brilliant, but good to know there's more to come. First day nerves out of the way, tomorrow we go out and perform the way we know we can. Dessi

Great effort girls, great responses, great rhythm. Kept calm and committed. Thank you! Jonathan

Good start to the week! Looking forward to getting faster each day. Mills x

So pleased to get my first bump!  Felt awesome!  You were ace Jonathan! Claire x

1st Mens Lent VIII - Rowed Over

An expected result for us today. We knew that Magdalene would go off with the ability to catch Churchill, and thats exactly what happened. As they got their first whistle on Churchill, we also go out first whistle on them. However, knowing that they had to bump or be bumped, they put in an almighty push which ate up Churchill by Ditton. We were then left with a relaxed row-over in front of FaT II who put-up a brave chase, but never presented a threat. Ed
